The coronation of the 14th Olowu of Owu Abeokuta, Oba Prof. Saka Matemilola has been fixed for Saturday, October 29, 2022.
This was disclosed by a top member of the central planning committee of the Olowu Coronation and Odun Omo Olowu, Oba Dr. Olufemi Ogunleye, the Towulade of Akinale.
Ogunleye said the Coronation would be held simultaneously with the annual Odun Omo Olowu festival.
He further said that the date was disclosed during a visit by former president, Olusegun Obasanjo, the Balogun of Owu to the new Olowu at his palace in Abeokuta.
The statement read “both Odun Omo Olowu and the Coronation will be rounded off on Saturday, October 29, 2022, in Abeokuta.”
Oba Matemilola emerged on July 27, 2022, following the approval of Oba Matemilola as the 14th Olowu of Owu by the state government.
The Olowu throne became vacant in December 2021 following the demise of the late Olowu of Owu, Oba Adegboyega Dosunmu.
