OPINION: Chelsea Made A Big Mistake By Sacking Thomas Tuchel And They May Soon Regret The Action

To ensure the progress of the club, Chelsea might have been right to have sacked some coaches or let them leave, however, there are quite some good coaches they should have retained no matter how.

Since the news broke on Wednesday morning about Thomas Tuchel‘s sacking, I’m still struggling and finding it hard to believe that one of Chelsea’s topmost managers has now lost his job despite how greatly he had impacted the club within his short period of stay.

Recall that Tuchel was sacked a few moments ago, following Chelsea’s 1-0 loss in their Champions League campaign against Dinamo Zagreb on Tuesday night.

Although the Stamford Bridge board – led by new co-owner Todd Boehly probably must have decided to sack Thomas Tuchel on the ground that Chelsea hasn’t been doing so well since the beginning of the new Premier League campaign, the sacking was a big mistake and they shouldn’t even have considered sacking him now, at least for the following major reasons.

Season just began

One of the reasons Chelsea must have made a big mistake of sacking Tuchel is because, as the new season just began, two or three games where the team didn’t perform to the expectation are not enough yardstick to have rated the coach’s performance. Will Chelsea regret sacking Tuchel? Yes, I think they will as they may find it hard to get a better coach to replace him.

Tuchel’s track records at Chelsea

Another reason why the Chelsea board should not have considered sacking Thomas Tuchel is because of his track record at the club. So, despite what his team might have been facing presently they should have trusted him with time to turn things around.

For whatever other reasons Chelsea might have to have made them sack Thomas Tuchel, I still believed they made a huge mistake in sacking the manager who won the second UEFA Champions League, UEFA Club World Cup, and Super Cup for the club, even with the crop of players that not many have rated so highly.

Lastly, people should not forget that Thomas is just trying to build his team with the new signings he has just made. Also, given the bond between him and some of the new signings, I believe it’s too early to have sacked Thomas Tuchel.

Although the board couldn’t have been blamed for not releasing money on time for him to purchase players during the early stage of the transfer window, due to a few glitches during the transfer of ownership, Tuchel also should have been given enough time to blend the old players with the new ones.
