Opinion: The VAR Was Right For Disallowing Arsenal’s Goal Against Manchester United.

The VAR has been in immense criticism after the EPL’s week six matches. In most of the games played, there were cases of disallowed goals that have got so many football fans talking.

In the game between Manchester United and Arsenal, Arsenal’s goal by Martinelli was disallowed in the early minutes of the game. Fans have blamed the VAR and the center referee for the disallowed goal.

The truth is, without sentiment, the goal scored by Martinelli could not have stood. Martinelli had a good run before beating David De Gea to find the back of the net but before the goal, Christian Eriksen was fouled by Arsenal’s player, Odegaard.

Odegaard did not go for the ball against Christian Eriksen, rather he had a collision with Christian Eriksen from behind, and it prevented the Manchester United’s player from touching the ball.

If Odegaard had touched the ball in that contest, the goal would have stood. Christian Eriksen was obviously fouled because he had the possession of the ball before Odegaard fouled him.

The VAR’s decision to call on the center referee for that goal was right. If Arsenal had won the game, this criticism would not have come in the first place. Odegaard fouled Christian Eriksen because he failed to go for the ball.
