Osun: OPC dissociates self from killings, assures police of support

The Oodua People’s Congress, (OPC) Osun State chapter, has dissociated itself from the continuous spate of killings in the State and gave warning to criminals, including kidnappers and cultists.

The Osun State Coordinator of the OPC, Prince Adedeji Aladesawe asked evil perpetrators to stay away from the State or face the wrath of the law.

He assured of his support to the State, noting that the OPC is ready to work with the police to ensure that Osun State regains its position.

The OPC leader, in a statement on Monday, condemned the indiscriminate killings in Ede and Ilesa and other parts of the State, insisting that the group will always work with other security outfits to nip the dastardly acts in the bud.

“There is a need for us as a group to raise our voices against the indiscriminate killings in Ede, Ilesa, and other parts of the State.

“Osun state OPC, under the amiable leadership of the Aareonakakanfo of Yoruba land, Iba Gani Abiodun Ige Adams, is law-abiding and we have been doing our best to secure the State from kidnappers, cultists, and their allies.

“From my findings, the recent crisis is cult-related killings; however, there was a report linking the mayhem to one Rashidi Oko-Ilu, who according to reports has been a major threat to Ede town and its environs. He has been terrorizing the people and causing untold hardship to the people of the ancient town,” he said.

Recall that Timi of Ede, Oba Munirudeen Lawal, had last week, raised the alarm over the spate of killings by hoodlums in the town, calling for the government’s urgent intervention.
