With barely 5 months left to the much-talked-about 2023 presidential election, a chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Debo Ologunagba has come out to share his thoughts on the party’s chances in the upcoming polls.

Speaking during an interview on ARISE TV, Ologunagba, who is the PDP‘s National Publicity Secretary, dismissed claims that the leadership of the party is relying on the assurances given by some persons in Aso Rock to emerge victorious on the ballots next year. According to him, the PDP’s hope for victory in 2023 rests squarely on the shoulders of Nigerians who are going through severe hardship under the current regime.

He said; “For me, the confidence and the hope of the PDP are in the Nigerian people and we have emphasized that in every step we have taken. Every action we have taken so far is in the reference to the Nigerian people because ultimately, the power resides with them. I do not want to comment on any assurance given by any individual, whoever it is.

What I know is that we believe in the Nigerian people because we are in tandem with the situation in the country today, where life expectancy is almost zero, insecurity is there, and our kids are out of school. What we are concerned about is Nigerians, our power lies with the people.”
