Over 29m Nigerians vaccinated against COVID-19 in 36 states, FCT —NPHCDA

The National Primary Health Care Development Agency has said that 29,052,850 of the total eligible individuals targeted for the COVID-19 vaccination are fully vaccinated with the Moderna and Pfizer vaccines.

The NPHCDA also stated that 12,182,298 of the total eligible Nigerians targeted for COVID-19 vaccination are partially vaccinated.

The agency disclosed this on Monday while giving an update on the COVID-19 vaccination as of August 21, 2022, via its official Twitter handle: @NphcdaNG.

For fully vaccinated persons, Kano leads the states with the highest number with 5,079,077; followed by Jigawa – 3,216,472; Kaduna – 2,631,840; Lagos – 1,596,908; Nasarawa – 1,575,708; Osun – 1,152,532; Ogun – 989,629; Adamawa – 930,965; Oyo – 899,666.

Zamfara is tenth in fully vaccinated rates with 808,082; Plateau – 775,690; Kwara – 719,318; Kastina – 698,409; Gombe – 547,352; FCT – 507,348; Ekiti – 490,088; Benue – 487,836; Delta – 442,782; Enugu – 439,099; Borno – 400,820; Sokoto – 394,596; Anambra – 391,192; Niger – 387,738.

Other State rates include; Bauchi – 359,767; Rivers – 350,070; Kebbi – 344,287; Imo – 337,249; Abia – 325,269; Cross River – 323,300; Ondo – 314,963; Yobe – 254,802; Taraba – 233,560; Akwa Ibom – 213,287; Kogi – 155,674; Edo – 154,192; Ebonyi – 86,311; and Bayelsa with 37,000.

Kano leads the states with the highest number of partially vaccinated persons with 2,890,916; followed by Jigawa – 997,289; Kaduna – 669,012; Lagos – 449,548; Oyo – 444,140; Sokoto – 438,590; Kastina – 426,282; Zamfara – 421,019.

Ogun is ninth in partially vaccinated rates with 350,634; Osun – 321,651; Nasarawa – 321,370; Kebbi – 302,916; Ekiti – 285,605; Benue – 284,214; Niger – 238,191; River – 236,690; Yobe – 216,457; FCT – 203,151; Bauchi – 200,161; Delta – 192,905.

Others are as follows; Ondo – 191,962; Borno – 186,810; Anambra – 166,729; Cross River – 161,973; Enugu – 158,576; Kogi – 158,381; Kwara – 158,248; Adamawa – 153,015; Gombe – 152,165; Taraba – 139,972; Plateau – 134,319; Akwa Ibom – 129,997; Imo – 119, 119; Edo – 109,747; Abia – 68,435; Ebonyi – 65,378; Bayelsa – 36,152.

The NPHCDA said, “Every day is an opportunity to take responsibility against COVID-19. Protect yourself, your family, and your community.

“Low vaccination coverage can have disastrous consequences for individuals and communities. Decisions to delay or avoid vaccination not only expose individuals to increased risk of disease but can also undermine herd immunity and increase the frequency and severity of outbreaks.”
