PDP Crisis: Ayu Is Going Nowhere, Atiku’s Camp Insists

[ad_1]

Ahead of the Thursday meeting of the National Executive Committee (NEC) of the main opposition party, Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) scheduled to hold in Abuja, the crisis currently rocking the PDP has taken a turn for the worse in the last few days as Atiku camp declared that moves to force the PDP national chairman, Sen. Iyorchia Ayu, to resign before the 2023 presidential election is dead on arrival.

According to Leadership, this was disclosed on Tuesday during a special interview on LEADERSHIP Podcast studio by Sen. Dino Melaye, one of the spokesmen of the Atiku Campaign Organisation. He said those clamoring for Ayu’s sack are from the All Progressives Congress (APC), stressing that they plan to cause a constitutional crisis in the PDP. He maintained that Sen. Ayu will not be chairman by the time Atiku emerges as president-elect in 2023.

On the crisis rocking the main opposition party, PDP, Melaye insisted that what is playing out in the party is a minor disagreement between one or two members of the party, which is expected in a political party that accommodate internal democracy. The rift between Wike and other members of the party is under control, and in a matter of days, it will be over. PDP is going into this election as a united political party.

Meanwhile, as reported earlier, Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Wike on Tuesday, upped the ante in his faceoff with the party’s national chairman, Sen. Iyorchia Ayu when he vowed to fight to end the over-concentration of critical positions in the North
