There seems to be no end in sight to the crisis rocking the main opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
The Punch newspaper reports that one of the key persons at the centre of the crisis, Governor Nyesom Wike of Rivers State, on Monday, said he would not leave his political opponents to God but would deal with them himself because God has given him the capacity to do so.
The governor spoke on Monday while commissioning projects in Abia State where he was hosted by his counterpart and political ally, Okezie Ikpeazu. He commissioned the Okezuo Abia Flyover along the Aba -Enugu Expressway in Osisioma Ngwa Local Government Area, and the rehabilitated Aba- Owerri Road in Aba South Local Government Area of the state.
Wike reportedly said:
“God has given me what it takes to crush these people, for me to crush my enemies.” He then referred to those he termed his enemies as “small boys.”
His statement was apparently a thinly-veiled jab at the embattled National Chairman of the PDP, Iyorchia Ayu, who only a few days ago had referred to those seeking resignation from offices, as “children who don’t understand politics.” 
Wike further boasted that no one can break the ranks in his camp.
Speaking on the alleged plot to do so, the eccentric governor said:
“When I read some newspapers, they say some people are making attempts to break ranks.
“If you like, go and meet Ikpeazu, if you like go and meet Seyi, if you like go and meet Ortom, if you like go and meet Ugwuanyi. You don’t even understand what we are doing. You are making mistakes.”
From all indications, Wike and his allies appear unfazed by the barrage of criticisms against them from some quarters. They have dug in the feet and appear very much unwilling to yield ground to their opponents in the quest to resolve the standoff in the party.
