PDP Crisis: I Will Flog and Crush ‘The Small Boys’ -Wike

In the midst of the crisis rocking the Peoples Democratic Party, Rivers State Governor Nyesom Wike said on Monday that he would flog and crush those he called “the small boys” rather than leave his political opponents to God.

“God has given me what it takes to crush these people, to crush my enemies,” Wike said during the commissioning of the Osisioma Interchange and the Dualised Aba-Owerri Road in Aba, Abia State.

Governor Wike, who was hosted by his Abia counterpart, Governor Okezie Ikpeazu, also stated that he understands relationships and that no one can break them, including his PDP brother governors and allies like Ikpeazu, Governor Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi (Enugu), Governor Samuel Ortom (Benue), and Governor Seyi Makinde (Oyo).

Wike and his allies have recently been photographed on vacation abroad, and they have taken the same stance as the PDP national chairman, Iyorchia Ayu, who resigned his position for a southerner.

“Nothing can be bought with money. According to some newspapers, some people are attempting to break ranks. I asked, “Do you understand the strategy behind what we’re doing?” They will not waste their time if they understand the procedure.

If you want, go meet Ikpeazu. If you want, go meet Seyi. If you want, go meet Ortom. And if you want, go meet Ugwuanyi. You have no idea what we’re doing… “You are making errors,” Rivers’ Governor stated.

Wike went on to say that Ayu should respect the agreement and resign, or Nigerians will know who is relevant or not when the time comes.

Ayu had referred to Wike and his southern counterparts as “children,” to which the Rivers governor responded that it was the “children” who rescued the former senator from the gutters and elevated him to the position of PDP national chairman last year, following the displacement of Uche Secondus due to a tsunami.

Wike called his enemies “small boys” and said he wouldn’t waste time dealing with them.

“I was in the plane with him (Ikpeazu) and we were talking about it.” He asked, “Why won’t you leave these people to God?” But I asked him, “Why are you crowding God?” God has given me everything I need to crush these people, to crush my enemies.

“You want me to leave it to God now that I know I have the ability to flog these small boys?” I’m not going to do it. I’m going to peppery flog them. “We’ll know who’s who when we start campaigning,” the governor said.

According to Channels Television, Wike lost his presidential bid in May to former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, a northerner from Adamawa State. Months before the PDP presidential primary, Ayu, a northerner from Benue State, announced in October that he would resign if the leading opposition party’s presidential candidate was a northerner.

However, Ayu recently reversed his position, stating that he will not resign but will end his four-year tenure. As a result, Wike mocked the PDP chairman last week, saying his arrogance and ingratitude would not help him. The Rivers governor also demanded that Ayu resign.

Aside from Wike and his allies, PDP Board of Trustees Chairman Walid Jibrin, a northerner from Nasarawa State, acknowledged that the party’s presidential candidate and national chairman being from the same region is unjust.
