Presidential Aspirant, Peter Obi Reveals how ASUU Strike can be Prevented.

2023 presidential candidate of the Labour Party, Peter Obi, has taken to social media to react to the ongoing ASUU strike, as he disclosed one of the many ways such industrial action by the academic body can be averted from reoccurring in the future.

The Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU), has been on strike for 6 months now, following its disagreement with the federal government with regards to the amount it is owed and the system of payment.

However, following the non-compliance of the federal government with the demands of ASUU, the president of the academic body, professor Emmanuel Osodeke had few days ago, announced an indefinite strike by the body.

And so, former governor of Anambra State and 2023 presidential candidate, Peter Obi, in reaction to such continuous strike by the academic body, took to his official Twitter account to state that within available national resources and the Tertiary Education Trust Fund (TetFund), there should be funds reasonable enough to tackle the problems of the tertiary institutions in Nigeria and prevent ASUU strike from repeating itself again.

Peter Obi however expressed sadness with the way the TetFund is being mismanaged due to state capture, adding that his team intend to change existing and enabling policies to make access to such funds seamless, transparent and dedicated for prescribed purposes.
