The Punch newspaper reported that Prof. Christopher Imumolen, the presidential candidate for the Accord Party, has asked Nigerians to resist disincentives before, during, and after the 2023 elections.
He emphasized the need for Nigerians to reject any sort of incentive that would maintain the control of a small elite and persistently impede Nigeria’s progress and development.
The presidential candidate stated that it was time for Nigerians to step up to the plate and contribute to the growth of the country by electing the right people to positions across the country in a statement released by his campaign organization on Tuesday, The PUNCH newspaper reported.
He claims that by refusing harmful incentives, Nigeria will advance rather than regress and develop rather than shrink.
“I am deeply disappointed that we consciously refused to pursue the establishment of a system that would have become an unshakable democratic culture that revolves around the pivots of good governance, accountability, equitable resource allocation, statesmanship/patriotism values, and unbreakable national integration.” This is true even though I don’t point the finger at any one person in particular for the deplorable state of our state.
The PUNCH newspaper quoted Imumolen as saying, “I am going about my mission on this ideology and commitment to sacrificially volunteer as a young patriot for the fight against the enemies of our embryonic democracy, and I look up to none other than God and the good people of Nigeria for my victory.”
He urged Nigerians to view the year 2023 as a “swim or sink” moment for their country, adding that the best course of action was to make the correct choice and select the best leaders.
According to Imumolen, 2023 is not the time for hypothetical meandering but rather the year when all socio-political alliances, including those based on race and religion, should be abandoned to concentrate on the vital task of liberating Nigeria from those who would purport to be her adversaries, according to The PUNCH newspaper.
