Reece James has extended his contract with Chelsea through 2028.

According to report, he has been rewarded for his strong form with a bumper new contract that will see him earn a minimum of £250,000 per week over the next six years, making him the highest-paid defender in the club’s history.

James came up through the club’s youth ranks and is a product of the academy.

He spent time on loan at Wigan in 2018 before returning to Stamford Bridge in September 2019, when he made his Chelsea debut against Grismby in the League Cup.

The 22-year old, who won the Champions League and Super Cup in 2021, expressed his happiness at having extended his stay at the club in response to his new deal, adding that he is eager to see what the team’s future holds.

Todd Boehly, the club’s owner, is excited about his new contract and happy to see him commit to a long-term contract.

He has been linked to Real Madrid in recent seasons, but he finally signed a long-term deal with the club.
