Reviewing Of Tertiary institutions curricula should be included in the demands made by ASUU.

The face-off between ASUU and the federal government which had led to the closing down of our citadel of learning has been relegated to the background as the Federal Government is more concerned about the success of the forthcoming general elections in 2023.

ASUU remains resolute on its decision not to call off the strike until its demands are attended to. This stalemate prompted students to take to the streets in peaceful demonstrations, appealing to both parties to reconsider their stance and call off the strike.

ASUU’s demands seem legitimate, as they want better studying environments for students. Furthermore, they want improved working conditions for themselves, with better remuneration.

But one vital issue ASUU is not pushing toward with Government is the development of a better and updated curriculum.

Our present curriculum is obsolete and

outdated. They have stopped providing solutions to our present problem now, and so many Nigerian graduates are unemployed and are seen roaming the streets looking for jobs. Another effect is that it had been breeding Jobseekers and not Job creators, who only carry certificates without relevant skills.

These curricula are not in tandem with current and present-day realities, as technology had invaded all parts of our lives.

Developed countries are doing great things because they leveraged technologies developed in their classrooms. They choose to think outside the box. They are solving not only their immediate challenges but also finding solutions to the difficulties of others.

All this would not have been possible if they were content with the old ways of doing things.

For ASUU to fight a good and worthy cause, it should take a holistic view of the whole system instead of just a few that affect them the most
