Sowore accused the APC of profiting from the Ekiti governorship race.

On Sunday, African Action Congress (AAC) presidential candidate Omoyele Sowore accused the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) of rigging the governorship election in Ekiti State.

Biodun Oyebanji of the All Progressives Congress (APC) received 187,057 votes, defeating his opponents Olabisi Kolawole of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and Segun Oni of the Social Democratic Party (SDP), who received 67,457 and 82,211 votes, respectively.

On social media platforms, several videos revealing examples of vote-buying and other electoral irregularities were circulating.

The practise was labelled as unfair and corrupt by the human rights activist in a series of tweets.

He accused the state’s outgoing governor, Kayode Fayemi, and other ruling party members of destroying democracy in the country.

“The All Progressives Congress (APC) monetized the gubernatorial election in Ekiti to the point where those who remained away from their (s)election playing street soccer probably believed they were the only ones who made the right option,” the tweets said. It’s a pity!

“While Governor Kayode Fayemi of the All Progressives Congress (APC) created a name for himself as a “pro-democracy” activist, he and other members of his party destroyed Democracy with paper money only yesterday!”
