Sowore slams Atiku for showing ‘fake concern’ about grid collapse

by Ebor Cletus Ralph Jr

The presidential candidate for the African Action Congress (AAC), Omoyele Sowore, criticised Atiku Abubakar of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) on Wednesday for seeming to be alarmed by the nation’s ongoing grid failure.

The former vice president voiced alarm over the most recent failure of the national grid in a statement that was posted on his Twitter account.
Atiku attributed the frequent national grid failures to inadequate power sector investment.

He also suggested creative financing for the infrastructure in the power sector as a solution.
On his verified Twitter account on Wednesday, Sowore responded to the PDP candidate’s statement and accused him of feigning concern about the situation.

He alleged that ex-President Olusegun Obasanjo’s administration under which Atiku served as vice president was responsible for the moribund nature of the power sector with its empty investment.

The activist wrote: “The National Electrical grid collapse started when you and Obasanjo invested $16 billion to procure darkness for Nigeria. President Muhammadu Buhari regime came to gazette the grid collapse as a law. Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, don’t pretend that you care about the national grid!”
