STP 0-10 NGA: Osimhen Breaks Kanu, Okocha’s Record As Super Eagles Thrash Sao Tome And Principe
The Super Eagles reached new heights on Monday afternoon as they thrashed Sao Tome and Principe in the Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers.
Portuguese manager Jose Peseiro secured Nigeria’s biggest win in a competitive match as Napoli striker Victor Osimhen scored four times to help the three-time African champions thrash Sao Tome and Principe 10-0 in Morocco.
The former Lille OSC striker’s four goals ensured he moved past Super Eagles legends Kanu Nwankwo and Austin Jay-Jay Okocha in Nigeria’s all-time top scorer charts.
The Napoli striker still has a long way to go before becoming Nigeria’s all-time top scorer with late Rashidi Yekini holding the record with 37 goals but with the rate he is going he could break the record.
The result also seals Nigeria’s biggest ever win in its football history and takes them top of Group A with six points from two games. Following the win, the Super Eagles will now turn their attention to the double-header against Guinea-Bissau in September.
