Super Eagles star Kevin Akpoguma inspires German Bundesliga giant to 4-1 home league win to move 2nd on the table

Super Eagles of Nigeria prolific and versatile defender, Kevin Akpoguma was solid today for German Bundesliga giant Hoffeinhem in their 6th league game of the current campaign at home against Mainz at the PreZero Arena.

The 27 year old Nigerian international was handed a role to play in his team’s starting XI line-up following his outstanding performance for the team in their last game and he was able to deliver at the peak by playing his part and also contributed his quota.

Kevin Akpoguma was solid at the heart of the defence line where he used his vast experience to make some decisive clearances to deny the visitor some clear cut chances that could have been converted into goals.

The first half of the game hanged on the balance with nothing to separate the two sides going into the half time break which ended goalless draw before the host turned around the fortune of the game in the second where they scored three straight goals from Andrej Kramaric, Grischa Promel and Munas Dabbur in the 53rd, 69th and 80th minute respectively to make it three goals to nil.

The visitor in the 83rd minute were able to get the deficit reduced as they put one back with a goal from Dominik Kohr to make it three goals to one after which the host sealed the remarkable victory with a goal from Pavel Kaderabek, which ended the game four goals to one at full time.

Kevin Akpoguma with his brilliant displays in the game will be hoping to keep the tempo and momentum going for his team in their next game as they continue their pursuit in the competition.
