A Delta State resident, Peace Oluwafemi, has cried out over the deteriorating health of her son, Japhet, currently suffering from stomach swelling.
The secondary school student, aged 16, has battled stomach pain and swelling since 2017.
Oluwafemi, who resides in Elume village, Okpe Local Government Area, Delta State, revealed that Japhet started developing the pains six months after he underwent an appendix surgery over five years ago.
Speaking with our correspondent on Saturday, the sad mother noted that shortly after the pains started, the child’s stomach started swelling.
Oluwafemi said, “Six months after the appendix operation, he started complaining about the stomach again.
“Soon, the stomach started swelling. As it started swelling, we used the little money we had to purchase medications for him.”
She noted that in early 2022, the family visited the Federal Medical Center, Asaba, where they were told that the teen will have to undergo surgery.

According to her, the doctor reassured that after the surgery, the ailment will not recur.
The surgery will cost N550,000, which according to her, the family was unable to afford.
The mother lamented that due to the condition, the child stopped going to school in 2021 when he was in SS1 and had remained indoors.
She, therefore, called on the masses to support her family and raise the amount for the surgery, to prevent a worsened condition.
