The All Progressives Congress (APC) presidential candidate, Bola Tinubu, on Sunday congratulated the party’s governorship flag bearer in Ekiti State, Abiodun Oyebanji, on his victory in Saturday’s election in the state.
Oyebanji polled 187,057 votes to defeat his closest challenger, Segun Oni of the Social Democratic Party who garnered 82,211 votes in the election.
Tinubu said in a statement sent by his media office that Oyebanji’s determination had paid off with his election triumph.
The former governor of Lagos State congratulated the party’s governors and members of the National Working Committee on their first big electoral success, and urged them not to give up until the party wins the general elections in 2023.
“I congratulate our Governor-elect, Abiodun Oyebanji, and his Deputy, Mrs. Monisade Afuye, on their outstanding election victory,” he stated.
“As members of the All Progressives Congress, this win is our victory.”
“I congratulate the people of Ekiti State on electing progressive leaders and ensuring continuity. I congratulate our party’s leadership on guiding APC to this significant victory in Ekiti. Our party’s governors, led by their Chairman and Governor of Kebbi, are deserving of appreciation for their dedication and persistence in achieving success for the party.
“This achievement should serve as motivation and inspiration as we strive for even more victories in the upcoming elections.”
“I must congratulate the now-former Governor, Dr. Kayode Fayemi, and his staff, whose innovative leadership in Ekiti allowed the APC to hold power for the next four years.” I have faith in the governor’s ability to finish successfully and strongly.
“While appreciating the people of Ekiti for their continued support for the APC, I urge them, as well as the rest of Nigerians, to keep their faith and confidence in our party.”
