The Nigerian Army dismissed two soldiers who killed a popular Islamic scholar in Yobe.

The Nigerian Army has fired against two soldiers who killed Sheikh Goni Aisami, a renowned Islamic scholar, after giving them a ride in Yobe state.

Remember that Sheikh Goni, who was travelling from Kano State to his base in Gashua, Yobe State, was killed by the soldiers on Friday, August 19, 2022, after giving them a ride from the Nguru military checkpoint to Jaji-Maji, a nearby community in the Karasuwa Local Government. He was travelling from Kano State to his base.

The hometown of the Senate President, Ahmad Lawan, Gashua, is located less than 30 kilometres from the little settlement of Jajimaji.

He was reportedly shot three times, and the attackers stole his 2006 red Honda Accord at about 9:00 p.m., according to sources. However, the automobile was found after the police had taken the suspects into custody.

On August 20, 2022, in Gashua, thousands of his pupils, family members, and friends wept as the great Islamic philosopher was laid to rest.

The Yobe State Police Command is reported to have detained the two Nigerian troops in response to the nation of Nigeria’s cries for justice.

In the most recent update, the Army confirmed on Saturday, August 27, 2022, that the troops who killed the Yobe-based scholar had been fired.

A joint board of investigation formed up in partnership with the police found them guilty, according to Lt Col. Ibrahim Osabo, acting commander officer in charge of the 241 Reece battalion at Nguru, Yobe State.

Lance Corporals John Gabriel and Adamu Gideon are two of the dismissed soldiers.

He said that two counts of failure to perform tasks and behaviour prejudicial to service discipline led to the dismissal of the two troops.

The discharged soldiers would be turned over to Damaturu police for legal prosecution, Lt. Col. Osabo noted.
