A Chieftain of the All Progressive Congress (APC), Tunde Bank-Anthony, has noted that the Presidential Candidate of his party, Asiwaju Ahmed Bola Tinubu, could not take credit for the achievements of former governors Babatunde Fashola, and Akinwunmi Ambode.
The APC bigwig, who spoke during an interview on Channels Television, said Ambode’s administration was more visible as governor. According to him, Ambode achieved more than Tinubu as governor. Bank-Anthony, who alleged that Ambode was denied a ticket in 2019, noted that no governor had served Lagos State for only four years, since Nigeria adopted the democratic system of government in 1999. He recounted how Tinubu, who served between 1999 and 2003, won an election again in 2003 to complete the eight-year tenure.
The APC chieftain noted that this structure had remained the same, untill Ambode was denied the party’s governorship ticket during the 2019 primary election. According to him, Tinubu could not claim glory for Ambode’s immense contribution to the development of Lagos State, as he was denied the chance to continue his good work.
