The governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress in Enugu State, Uchenna Nnaji, has said, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu’s campaign funding is causing crisis in the state.
Nnaji argues that to avoid party instability, the funds should be kept until it was time to launch a campaign ahead of the general elections in 2023.
This was announced by Nnaji during a meeting of emergency stakeholders held at the party’s South-East zonal office.
“Tinubu’s campaign funds are the root of the current APC conflict in Enugu. The so-called stakeholders are squabbling for control of and oversight of the distribution of Tinubu’s funds.
“We don’t want Bola Tinubu’s campaign funds to be used to conduct the general election in Enugu State in 2023, the presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress. We will use Enugu APC resources to conduct the election in 2023 by the special grace of God, and the party will reimburse us afterwards. The financial problem inside the Enugu APC is being brought on by Tinubu.
“After this urgent meeting, I’ll travel to Abuja on Monday to inform the party’s national chairman that we don’t want campaign funds. When I see Tinubu, our presidential candidate, on Tuesday, I will tell him the same thing.
In response to a question on how prepared the party is for the next elections, Nnaji said that he and his colleagues have visited several wards. In Abuja, he urged party members to lend a hand in preparation for the next elections.
“It is unprecedented in the history of the party in the state and demonstrates how ready we are to not only run for office but also win,” he said.
