Adeyeri Stephen Kunle, a House of Representatives aspirant on the platform of the All Progressives Congress, APC, for Akoko South West/South East federal constituency, Ondo State, on Tuesday announced his resignation from the ruling party.

Kunle made the announcement in a letter of resignation, insisting his decision was carefully considered. At the time of this report, he was yet to announce his new party.

Government Hope Uzodimma of Imo has expressed confidence that the state would overcome her present challenges if residents fervently approached God in prayers.

The governor said this at the second edition of ‘Imo Unity Prayer and Praise Convention’ organised by the Imo chapter of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN), in Owerri on Tuesday.

In his remarks, Uzodinma said the event was appropriate as the state had been able to surmount its security challenges thanks to the faithfulness and grace of God.

Court jails lawyer five years for drug trafficking.

A Federal High Court sitting in Lagos, on Tuesday, sentenced a 26-year-old lawyer, Yetunde Sulaimon, to five years imprisonment, for drug trafficking.

Justice Daniel Osiagor handed down the sentence to the convict, who studied law from one of the Benin Republic universities,

after she pleaded guilty to charges of conspiracy and unlawful export of exported 1.10 kilograms of Cannabis Sativa.

Members of the House of Representatives on Tuesday knocked the office of the Accountant General of the Federation, AGF, for failing to provide evidence of 25 percent of the six billion naira internally revenue generated by the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) for the 2020 fiscal year.

The lawmakers faulted SEC during the interactive session with the Commission’s Director General, Lamido Yuguda, on the review of the 2020 to 2022 budget defense and 2023-2025 Medium-term Expenditure Framework (MTEF) and Fiscal Policy Paper (FPP).

Court grants Ogun speaker N300m bail in alleged N2.4b fraud trial.

Justice Daniel Osiagor of the Federal High Court sitting in Ikoyi, Lagos on Tuesday admitted the speaker of the Ogun State House of Assembly, Oluomo Olakunle Taiwo, to bail in the sum of N300 million with two sureties at N300 million each.

Oluomo was arraigned by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, alongside the Director of Finance, Ogun State House of Assembly, Oladayo Samuel, and the Clerk of the House of Assembly, Adeyemo Adedeji Taiwo, on 11-count charges bordering on money laundering to the tune of N2.4 billion.
