Drama as APC members declare support for PDP in Offa, Kwara

There was rowdiness during an All Progressives Congress, APC, ward meeting held in Shawo South West, Offa Local Government Area of Kwara State as party members openly declared support for the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, against the wish of APC.

Video footage, which emerged from the APC ward meeting, showed how the ward chairman and his vice tried to stop members from chanting PDP during the meeting but were utterly resisted by angry members.

Reports said they shouted at the ward chairman telling him to his face that PDP must return and that Offa is now fully PDP.

Not so pleased with the turn of events, the APC chairman who tried to persuade the angry members, told them they must not allow PDP to come back to power.

The presidential candidate of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu has assured he is determined to turn Nigeria to a progressive, highly developed and prosperous nation.

He gave the assurance on Wednesday at the party’s national secretariat during a meeting with the National Working Committee (NWC) ahead of the kickoff of the presidential campaign on September 28.

Tinubu also promised to ensure the full democratisation of the country so that it can remain the beckon of democracy of the black race in the world.

Zulum shares N400m, food, textiles to over 90,000 vulnerable people

Professor Babagana Zulum, the Governor of Borno State, on Wednesday shared about N400 million alongside thousands of bags of food and textiles to over 90,000 vulnerable male and female residents of Bama.

Zulum arrived at Bama on Monday as he approaches his third day of undertaking humanitarian and developmental activities.

According to a 2016 assessment report co-authored by the World Bank, the EU, United Nations and Nigerian Government, Bama is identified as the worst affected by Boko Haram’s destructions and displacement, hence Borno Government’s special attention on areas of reconstruction and humanitarian aid.

Governor Zulum, from early morning (6:35am) on Wednesday, flagged off the distribution in front of the Shehu of Bama’s palace amidst the gathering of thousands of beneficiaries.

More than 60,000 male residents each received two bags of rice and maize while 30,000 female residents each received a wrapper and N5,000 cash.

Kaduna Train Hostage Negotiator, Mamu, Is In Our Custody – DSS

The Department of State Security Services (DSS) has said that the Abuja-Kaduna train hostage negotiator, Tukur Mamu, has been taken into custody.

This DSS stated this in a statement by its spokesperson, Dr. Peter Afunanya, on Wednesday following reports that Mamu was arrested in Egypt.

The DSS said his arrest in Egypt followed complaints from the Nigerian military and other security agencies in relation to some pertinent questions he will need to answer as a person of interest.

Bandits fell into troops’ ambush in Kaduna; two killed, many shot- Official

The Kaduna State government, said troops of the Nigerian Army have frustrated some bandits along Kaduna-Zaria road and neutralised two of them.

The Commissioner for Internal Security and Home Affairs, Samuel Aruwan, confirmed the development in a statement issued on Wednesday in Kaduna.

Mr Aruwan said the troops repelled the bandits around Fondisho general area, along the Kaduna-Zaria road in Igabi local government.

He added that operational feedback to the Kaduna State government revealed that the troops responded quickly to credible intelligence and set up an ambush position at the location.
