Disqualify Peter Obi Over Diaspora Funding – Group Tells INEC

A group under the auspices of Tinubu-Shettima Connect, has called on the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to, without delay, disqualify the presidential candidate of the Labour Party (LP), Mr. Peter Obi, and his running mate, Yusuf Datti Baba-Ahmed, from the 2023 presidential election.

The group has also threatened to commence legal action, intending to join Peter Obi, his running mate and INEC, to prevent Labour Party from participating in the 2023 presidential election for engaging in activities that contravene the Electoral Act 2022.

In a statement signed by its convener, Adebanjo Moyosore, the group said it was not only illegal to raise campaign funds from abroad through unknown sources or unidentified groups but there is also dire consequences and implications for such act.

Tinubu Wonders Why PDP Still Exists

A presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, has expressed surprise that the Peoples Democratic Party still exists as a political party.

He said looking at how the party was in its 16 years of ruling the country, he could not see a rail infrastructure that could do haulage, human and animal husbandry, food carriage from the South-West to the North.

The presidential candidate was speaking at the logo unveiling of the Tinubu/Shettima 2023, on Saturday in Abuja.

The Nigerian Army says it will not succumb to intimidation by the International Society for Civil Liberty and Rule of Law in its effort to rubbish army’s image and reputation.

The Director, Army Public Relations, Brig.-Gen. Onyema Nwachukwu, said this in a statement on Saturday in Abuja.

Nwachukwu said that INTERSOCIETY had continued with its antics of dragging the image of the Nigerian army in the mud while promoting irredentists, lawless and outlawed organisations.

He said the allegation by the organisation that the Nigerian military, especially the army had been working with armed herdsmen/bandits to terrorise the Eastern part of the country and Benue was libelous, spurious and derogatory.

We Don’t Aid Killer Herdsmen, Bandits – Army

The Nigerian Army has denied colluding with killer herdsmen and bandits to terrorise the Southeast and Benue State, describing the recent claim by a civil society organisation, the International Society for Civil Liberty and Rule of Law (Intersociety) as spurious, libelous and derogatory.

Director of army public relations, Brigadier-General Onyema Nwachukwu, in a statement yesterday said; “The Nigerian Army is not by this reaction denying the presence of black sheep in its fold, just like in any other organisation or institution. This, the Army is very mindful of and actively monitoring and effectively handling within the provisions of extant laws.”
