Governor Nyesom Wike says he will not stop talking about the injustice in the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) for going against its zoning arrangement.

Mr Wike said this at the inauguration of the Rivers State University satellite campus in the Emohua local government area.

He explained that the perpetrators of the injustice in the PDP would account for its wrong deeds.

“That is why I am telling the people there; it cannot work. You can’t take everything. If you take everything, it will purge you. So, it’s better to do the right thing now,” said Mr Wike.

He stated that the multi-campus for RSU was strategic to increase access to education, provide more space for effective teaching and learning, and grow rural communities’ economy.

He added that his administration’s delivery of quality projects would encourage people to vote for the PDP in the 2023 general election.

Mr Wike stressed that it would be difficult for parties that have failed to provide good governance to the people to solicit votes during elections.

While speaking at the ceremony, Governor Seyi Makinde of Oyo lauded Mr Wike for the projects.

Mr Makinde stated that the governor’s commitment to his vision showed evidence of good governance to the good people of Rivers.

The Defence Headquarters says its tactical surveillance troops have apprehended a wanted Boko Haram terrorists (BHT) informant, Mamuda Usman (aka Bado), in the Asokoro area of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).

The Director, Defence Media Operations, Maj.-Gen. Musa Danmadami, made this known at a bi-weekly news conference on military operations across the country on Thursday in Abuja.

Danmadami said it was revealed that the suspect ran errands for a suspected high-profile BHT commander in Kaduna.

He said that the commander had been on the tracking list of security agencies, adding that the arrested suspect was in custody for further action.

2023: Focus on local elections, Fashola urges Nigerians

The Minister of Works and Housing, Babatunde Fashola, on Thursday, urged Nigerians to pay more attention to local elections in their domain during next year’s general and successive elections in Nigeria.

He said rather than put all focus on the central elections and who becomes the next president, it was important that Nigerians divert their attention to elections in their Local Government Areas, Local Council Development Areas, State House of Assembly, and that of federal lawmakers.

He made this known at the annual lecture of The Niche with the theme, ‘2023 elections and the future of Nigeria’s democracy’, held at the MUSON Centre, Onikan, Lagos State on Thursday.

Those present at the event include the First Republic politician, Tanko Yakasai, former Delta State Governor, James Ibori, former NIMASA Director General, Dr. Dakuku Peterside, among others.

He said those saddled with responsibility of ensuring Nigerians enjoy dividends of democracy are those in local elective offices and as such, the people must be interested in local elections as against more attention being paid to central elections.

He said contrary to insinuations and opposition, the democracy system of government delivers more dividends to Nigerians than any other system of government in the country.

He added Nigerians are faced with another choice in 2023 and it behooves them to choose rightly during next year’s election in strengthening the nation’s democracy.

Nigerian Internet Fraudster, Hushpuppi Begs Not To Be Deported To Nigeria, Says Disgraced ‘Super Cop’, Abba Kyari Operates Death Squad, May Harm Him

Nigerian internet fraudster facing trial in the United States of America, Ramon Abbas, popularly known as Hushpuppi says he is at risk of being harmed by suspended Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP), Abba Kyari if deported to Nigeria.

According to Peoples Gazette, Hushpuppi told the United States District Court for the Central District of California that his role in the indictment of Kyari, which precipitated his downfall has put him at grave risk and he would not be able to return to Nigeria after serving his sentence in the U.S.

The pleas were outlined in a memorandum he submitted before Judge Otis Wright seeking a downward review of sentencing years demanded by the prosecutors after he pleaded guilty to multimillion-dollar fraud last year.

Hushpuppi was first arrested in Dubai in June 2020 and later transferred to prison in the U.S. as his trial continued.

Louis Shapiro, an American defence attorney hired by the social media influencer, filed the memorandum on behalf of his client on September 5.

The prosecutors have demanded up to 11 years in prison for Hushpuppi, as well as payment of $1.7 million in restitution and $500,000 in fines.

A three-year supervised release after completion of the 11-year sentence was also recommended, the filing showed.

The defence, led by Shapiro, countered the request, saying Hushpuppi had become a changed person since he was arrested in Dubai in June 2020, extradited to the U.S. in the same month and remanded in prison ever since.

The defence, therefore, asked the court to hand him between 35 and 41 months in prison.

Wright is expected to hear the matter on September 21 and subsequently determine sentencing duration.

“Once this case is resolved and Mr. Abbas is released, that he will not be able to return to Nigeria,” Shapiro wrote in the counter request.

“Abubakar Kiyari, a Nigerian politician and police commissioner, operates a death squad. Kyari was indicted in the Juma case by the government’s investigation into this case.

“Mr. Abbas hopes to move his family out of Nigeria when he gets out of prison. The looming threat of Mr. Kyari’s supporters, as well as intense media harassment, has forced his family to continue moving to secret locations within Nigeria.

“They must rent different apartments simultaneously while continuously changing telephone lines. Additionally, his children face the possibility of going through their formative years without their father.”

Hushpuppi pleaded guilty in April 2021 to charges of Internet fraud, money laundering, among others.

The FBI indicted Kyari as part of the syndicate about the same time.

Kyari, hitherto Nigeria’s most famous and decorated police officer, was immediately suspended as a deputy police commissioner while the extradition process continued from the U.S. side.
