The Peoples Democratic Party Governors Forum Chairman, Aminu Tambuwal, has resigned from his chairmanship position.

Tambuwal, who is also the Sokoto State Governor, announced his resignation at the ongoing PDP National Executive Council meeting in Abuja.

Few minutes after his resignation, the Oyo State Governor, Seyi Makinde, emerged as the new PDP governors’ forum Chairman on Thursday.

Wike Opens Up On Reason He Is Angry With Atiku

Governor Nyesom Wike of Rivers State on Thursday revealed the root of his rift with the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar and the Party’s National Chairman, Iyorchia Ayu.

The former presidential aspirant while commissioning a project in the state claimed Atiku had after winning the party’s primary, promised that Ayu would resign.

He, however, said the former vice president failed to fulfil the promise, leading to the current crisis rocking the party.

Osinbajo Speaks About 2023 Census

The federal government has released about 60 per cent of the N198 billion budgeted for 2023, Vice President Yemi Osinbajo said on Thursday.

Mr Osinbajo also said the federal government has spent the sum of N21 billion in the mapping of the country into enumeration areas for the 2023 census.

The vice president disclosed this on Thursday in Abuja at the Breakfast Meeting with Partners on the 2023 Population and Housing Census.

Osun CP Sends Message To Protesting Constabularies

The Osun State Commissioner of Police, Olawale Olokode, on Thursday, explained that there was no agreement to pay constabularies recruited under the community policing initiative.

This explanation was contained in a statement signed by the Command Spokesperson, Yemisi Opalola, in reaction to the protest staged by the 480 constabularies over unpaid 18 months stipends across major streets of Osogbo on Wednesday.

Olokode however said the state or local government, where the constabularies were serving, may decide to give them stipends.

Why Nigeria Should Adopt French Govt System -Yakasai

First Republic politician and elder statesman, Alhaji Tanko Yakasai, on Thursday, called on Nigeria to adopt the French presidential system of government and jettison the current presidential system obtainable in the country.

According to him, successive civilian administrations run by the presidential system of government have over time generated massive economic, social and political tensions which the country is currently struggling with.
