The President spoke on Wednesday at State House, Abuja, while receiving updates from former President Goodluck Jonathan on the face-off between Mali and Cote D’Ivoire over detained Ivorian soldiers.

The Special Adviser to the President on Media and Publicity, Femi Adesina, said Jonathan is ECOWAS Special Envoy on the situation in Mali. He said about 49 Ivorian soldiers had been detained in Mali for ‘unlawful entry,’ and only the three females in the team had been released.

APGA decries incessant attacks on Enugu LP members

The All Progressives Grand Alliance has condemned in its entirety the attack on the supporters of the Labour Party’s presidential candidate, Peter Obi, in Enugu State on Sunday, describing it as an agenda to keep the state down allegedly by the ruling Peoples Democratic Party in the state.

It was gathered that gunmen, suspected to be political thugs, invaded a meeting of the LP in Awgu Ward 1 and chased out the members. They also destroyed chairs, canopies, and cars belonging to the party members.

The hoodlums had, last week Wednesday, attacked the LP members at Aninri in a similar manner. But reacting to the attacks in a statement, Tuesday, the state Chairman of APGA, Mr. Ndubisi Enechionyia, condemned the incessant attack on the party.

Lawan-Machina: Be neutral, group urges INEC

The Transition Monitoring Group on Wednesday urged the Independent National Electoral Commission to maintain neutrality and ensure the actual winner of the All Progressives Congress primary for the Yobe North Senatorial District ticket is recognized.
