At least 17 governorship candidates of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) have held a closed-door meeting with Rivers Governor Nyesom Wike.

It was gathered that the candidates from Sokoto, Jigawa, Kaduna, Katsina and 13 other States paid Wike a visit at his country home in Rumueprikon, Obio-Akpor Local Government Area.

The candidates reportedly arrived Port Harcourt around 8pm following the crisis rocking the party ahead of the 2023 election.

UK PM Truss unveils non-white top cabinet members

Liz Truss on Tuesday unveiled her new top team as she formally took over from Boris Johnson as UK prime minister, with no place for white men in any of the three senior-most cabinet posts for the first time ever.

As expected, she rewarded allies to her during her victorious Conservative leadership campaign, promoting Kwasi Kwarteng to finance, James Cleverly to foreign affairs and Suella Braverman to interior.

The son of Ghanaian immigrants, Kwarteng is the country’s first black chancellor of the exchequer. His immediate focus will be turning round Britain’s dire economic fortunes.

UCL: Dortmund beat Copenhagen in convincing display

BVB began the Champions League group stage with a 3-0 win over FC Copenhagen at the Signal Iduna Park.

Copenhagen were off and running from the opening whistle, nearly scoring within the first 25 seconds. Dortmund’s first chance came nine minutes in, but Anthony Modeste could not make a proper connection from Julian Brandt’s cross.

BVB dominated possession, but struggled finding a way through on goal. Thorgan Hazard picked up a knock and was replaced by Gio Reyna in the 22nd minute. Wife dies, husband survives building collapse in Jigawa

A housewife died in a building collapse in Gwaram Local Government Area of Jigawa State.

Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) spokesman, CSC Adamu Shehu confirmed the incident on Tuesday.

The spokesman said it occurred on Sunday at about 11:30 p.m. due to heavy rainfall.

The deceased, 45, lost her life at Auyakawa quarters while she was sleeping in the house with her spouse.

EFCC busts 40 suspected internet fraudsters in Lagos

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has again arrested alleged internet fraudsters in Lagos.

The Head of Media, Wilson Uwujaren, announced the operation in a statement on Tuesday.

The suspects were apprehended at different locations along the Lekki-Epe expressway.

They are Oyedokun Opeyemi Abdulrazaq, Olowofela Temidayo, Moses Ossai, Dada Samuel Abiodun, Francis Victor Oluwatobi, Ayobami Akanji, Osun Gbenga, Doroye Olumide Joseph, Ajayi Oluwaseyi Emmanuel, Olalekan Olaniyi Akonji,Oluwadare Samuel Olawale, Oloyede Olakunle.
