Buhari govt suspends 5% exercise duty on telecom

The Federal Government has suspended the implementation of the 5% excise duty charge on telecom facilities earlier proposed by the FG.

The Minister of Communications and Digital Economy, Isa Pantami, disclosed this on Monday when he inaugurated a committee to review the 5% excise duty.

Speaking during the inauguration of the committee on the review of the 5% excise duty in the telecom sector, Pantami said that President Buhari granted his prayer for immediate suspension of the 5% excise duty.

Nobody can break my rank, Wike boast

Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Wike has boasted that no one can his rank as he pointed to the futility of efforts by those attempting to create disunity among them his supporters.

He declared that the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) governors working with him are only demanding that the right things should be done in the party and agreement be reached and respected.

Wike spoke bared his mind on Monday when he inaugurated the Okezuo Abia Flyover along the Aba -Enugu Expressway in Osisioma Ngwa Local Government Area, and the rehabilitated Aba- Owerri Road in Aba South Local Government Area of Abia State.

Provide evidence we aligned with Osun PDP, TOP to Babayemi

The Osun Progressives (TOP), a group within the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Osun has challenged Dotun Babayemi, the expelled Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) chieftain to come up with evidence to prove his allegations that the group was working with PDP at the detriment of his request.

TOP also noted that Babayemi’s vituperations were a mark of extreme frustration of a politician with a bleak political future.

The group which made the challenge in a statement signed by Lowo Adeniyi, its Chairman, said the claims by the expelled PDP chieftain that there is an alliance between TOP and the Osun PDP was a figment of his imagination.

Utomi faults electoral law, reveals plan on campaign funding for Peter Obi

A leader of the National Consultative Front, Pat Utomi has faulted provisions of the 2022 Electoral Law preventing political parties and their candidates from receiving funds from Nigerians in the diaspora for their campaign activities.

Mr Utomi, a chieftain of the Labour Party (LP) spoke on Channels TV’s Politics Today from the United States, on Sunday.

He was responding to allegations that the LP and its presidential candidate, Peter Obi, were planning to solicit campaign funds from Nigerians in the diaspora.

Hundred of Ondo APC members defect to PDP

Some months to the general election, hundreds of members of the ruling All Progressives Congress in the Ifedore Local Government Area of Ondo State have dumped the party for the opposition Peoples Democratic Party.

The defection, which took place at the PDP secretariat, Igbara-Oke, the headquarters of the council area, on Monday, had leaders of the PDP in the local government and the state in attendance to receive the defectors.

Welcoming the defectors, the local government chairman of the PDP, Chief Dare Owolafe, assured the new members of justice, fairness and equity among members of the PDP, called on others to join the party, describing it as a winning party.

Our position on Muslim-Muslim ticket stands, says CAN

The Christian Association of Nigeria has described as untrue, claims that it had changed its position regarding the Muslim-Muslim ticket of the All Progressives Congress after allegedly meeting its presidential candidate, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu.

The organisation also warned against polithcising the presence of Tinubu at the 70th birthday celebration of the Catholic Bishop of Sokoto Diocese, Rev. Matthew Kukah, in Abuja.

The President of CAN, Daniel Okoh, made this known in a statement by his Special Assistant (Media and Strategic Communication), Luminous Jannamike, titled, “Muslim-Muslim Ticket: CAN maintains its position.”
