The Chairman, Senate Committee on Health, Dr Ibrahim Oloriegbe, on Saturday, said he would, alongside his supporters, mobilise and put in work to ensure the victory of All Progressives Congress presidential candidate, Bola Tinubu, during next year’s election.

He said the victory of the former Lagos State governor would mark the beginning of the desired change in the country.

The aggrieved Kwara Central senator who failed to secure a return ticket during the last primary election of APC in Kwara, also pledged to work for the success of Tinubu at the poll.

USA, Vice president Commends Yemi Osinbajo

Vice President Kamala Harris has commended Vice President Yemi Osinbajo for providing leadership on climate change.

Osinbajo is in Washington, U.S. to seek global partnerships and support for the recently inaugurated Nigeria’s Energy Transition Plan (ETP).

Osinbajo’s spokesman, Laolu Akande, in a statement on Saturday in Abuja, said the duo met at the Ceremonial Office at the White House and made remarks to newsmen before the closed session where they discussed bilateral issues.

The National Woman Leader of the Labour Party, LP, Mrs. Dudu Manuga, has said that the ongoing political revolution and massive movements by young Nigerians have gone beyond individuals and political parties.

Manuga spoke at a Meet and Greet interactive session with some leaders of women groups in Lagos, on Friday.

According to her, the movements ignited by the LP and its presidential candidate, Mr. Peter Obi, have shown that Nigerians were tired of bad leadership, corruption, worsening insecurity and economic stagnation.

Take charge of your future, Jonathan urges Nigeria youths

Former President Goodluck Jonathan has called on Nigerian youths to vote for a leader who believes in Nigeria’s unity.

Jonathan said this on Saturday an event organised in honour of Emmanuel Iwuanyanwu, a former member of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) board of trustees (BoT).

Iwuanyanwu will clock 80 on Sunday. 

Speaking on the theme, ‘Igbo Quest For Nigeria’s Unity’, the former president appealed to Nigerians to pay less attention to differences and focus on the issue that foster unity.

Ghana prevents Nigeria from qualifying for 2023 CHAN

The home-based Super Eagles lost via penalties to the Black Galaxies of Ghana in the 2023 Africa Nations Championship (CHAN) second leg qualifier game in Abuja.

The Salisu Yusuf tutored side fell 2-0 in the first leg in Cape Coast, Ghana last weekend.

In the second leg at the Moshood Abiola Stadium, Abuja on Saturday evening, Zulkifilu Muhammed opened the scoring for Nigeria in the 76th minute.

Chuks Akuneto got the second goal for Nigeria in added time to take the game to penalty shoot outs.

Coalition demands FG tackles non-communicable diseases

A coalition under the aegis of National Action on Sugar Reduction, NASR, Friday, demanded Federal Government tackle noncommunicable diseases in the with monies generated through taxes on Sugar-Sweetened Beverages, SSB.

The demand was contained in a communique signed by the Coalition’s representative, Omei Bongos-Ikwue, after a meeting held in Abuja.

A member of the coalition and Advocacy Specialist, Shirley Ewang, said the next phase of the advocacy is to sustain the tax and increase it to a level that will produce a price change impactful enough to discourage excessive SSB consumption.
