The news that he had been fired by Chelsea on Wednesday came as a complete and utter surprise to Thomas Tuchel.

The German was let go after a harrowing 10-minute conversation on the phone during which he begged to be given another opportunity.
After the Blues suffered their third consecutive loss on the road, this time at the hands of Dinamo Zagreb in the opening match of their Champions League Group E campaign, Tuchel was dismissed of his duties as manager of the club.
Immediately following the match, Tuchel stated that the club is now lacking in every department.
However, there was no one there to meet him when he arrived, and instead, Tuchel was told to participate in a conference call with higher-ups from the Chelsea organisation.
During the course of the call, which lasted for ten minutes, Tuchel appealed with the general manager not to fire him and to give him another opportunity to turn things around.
But his entreaties fell on deaf ears, and the new owner, Todd Boehly, went ahead and fired the German and relieved him of his responsibilities nevertheless.
