Twitter rolls out Verified Organizations feature worldwide: All you need to know

Verified Organizations feature is a new way for companies and their affiliates to distinguish themselves on the microblogging platform

The new feature will give greater control to organisations that are already vetted by Twitter as now the can verify affiliated organizations.

Twitter yesterday announced that its ‘Verification for organisations’ is now available worldwide. The announcement was made through the company’s Twitter Verified handle. The new feature will allow organisations vetted by the platform to verify accounts affiliated or associated with them.

The company said that the Verified Organizations feature is a new way for companies and their affiliates to distinguish themselves on the microblogging site. With the new feature, now vetted organisations will be in full control of vetting and verifying accounts that are associated with it.

“Rather than relying on Twitter to be the sole arbiter of truth for which accounts should be verified, vetted organisations that sign up for Verified Organizations are in full control of vetting and verifying accounts they’re affiliated with,” the company said in its tweet.

Twitter said that accounts affiliated with the organisation will get an affiliate badge on their profile with the organisation’s logo. They will also be featured on the organisation’s Twitter profile which will indicate their affiliation with the parent company. “All organizations are vetted before they can join Verified Organizations,” said Twitter.

The platform also shared the url for companies, nonprofits, governments and multilateral organisations worldwide to join the waitlist to access the feature. The company also said that it was sending email invitations to approved organisations from the waitlist to join the feature.

“We’ve already seen organizations, including sports teams, news organizations, financial firms, Fortune 500 companies, and nonprofits join Verified Organizations and list their affiliated accounts publicly on their profiles. And starting today, Verified Organizations are available globally. We are now sending email invitations to approved organizations from the waitlist,” read the tweet.
