The first fixtures of the UEFA Champions League for the 2022/2023 season was completed tonight, as Barcelona, Bayern Munich, Liverpool and Tottenham were all in action. There were some shocking results and other expected ones, but this articles highlights the results of tonight’s fixtures while discussing the games briefly.
Liverpool were so poor away to Napoli, as they lost 4-1 due to their shambolic defending and insistence on playing a high-line. Bayern Munich showed Inter Milan how great their squad is with a 2-0 win in Italy, while Barcelona flexed their newly acquired striker Lewandowski in their 5-1 win over Viktoria as the Polish striker scored a hat-trick on his UCL debut for the Catalan giants.
Tottenham Hotspurs marked their champions league return with a 2-0 win over Marseille, thanks to a brace from Richarlison and probably to the fact that Marseille were reduced to ten men early in the second half. Atletico played a 1-1 draw with Porto, and earlier today Ajax destroyed Rangers by 4-0. We would be looking forward to what next week’s UCL fixtures have for us.
