The 2022/2023 UEFA Champions League campaign kicked off yesterday with eight games played across different venues in the match day 1 where many were able to get the desired results and some others getting unwanted and disappointing results.

The same was the case for German Bundesliga giant, Borussia Dortmund who kick-started their campaign at home against FC Copenhagen at the Signal Iduna Park where they won with a massive three goals to nil at full time which placed them at the second spot on the table behind Manchester City who won four nil away from home.

The side attraction in the game was the presence of in-form African star and former Ajax Amsterdam forward, Sebastien Haller who came to support his new club at the home ground.

Sebastien Haller joined the Black and Yellow this summer from the Netherlands Eredivisie giant but has been unable to make a single appearance for the club hitherto after he was diagnosed with testicular cancer shortly after his move to the club.

His pictures surfaced online couple of days ago as posted by his wife, Priscilla Haller via her Instagram story after which he made his first public appearance thereafter during the presentation of his last season’s top scorer award in Netherlands.

He was also spectacular in the last campaign where he made name for himself in the UEFA Champions League as the first and only African player to score a goal on every match day of a single UCL group stage series, which made him only the second player in the history of the competition to achieve this feat after Cristiano Ronaldo.

His presence at the venue yesterday was marvelled as he received a lots of love and affection from the fans and his teammates also honoured him with the well deserved victory.

Borussia Dortmund got a double lead in the first half with goals from Marco Reus and Raphael Guerrero in the 35th and 42nd minute respectively to make it two nil at half time before they got the lead extended in the late minute to the end of the game with a goal from Jude Bellingham, which ended the game three goals to nil at full time.

In respect to this, UEFA reacted to the presence of Sebastien Haller with a post via their verified Twitter handle with the caption revealing that the In-form African star was in the building which was complemented with love emojis to represent Borussia Dortmund colours (Black and Yellow).

Wishing Sebastien Haller quick and speedy recovery as he continues his recovery process with the optimism to be back to the pitch of play better and stronger.
