Ugwuanyi hypocritical, colossal failure – MASSOB

The Movement for the Actualisation of the Sovereign State of Biafra has lambasted Governor Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi of Enugu State for what it described as the deplorable condition of infrastructure in the state under his watch.

The pro-Biafra group described Ugwuanyi as a “hypocritical and colossal failure” who continued to deceive residents with the slogan, “Enugu is in the hands of God”.

MASSOB in a statement on Friday signed by its state Coordinator, Mazi Daniel Onyebuchi, lamented that the governor in the last seven years left the state more dilapidated and rotten, alleging also that “many infrastructure and social structures were grossly neglected” while “many projects of his predecessors were either abandoned or neglected with no attention”.

The separatist group, therefore, urged Enugu residents not to be deceived again by the Peoples Democratic Party but to use the 2023 general elections to flush out criminals and cultists ruling the state and ensure that a new order was enthroned.

In the statement titled, “The Enugu State Governor is a hypocritical and colossal failure,”  MASSOB said, “MASSOB committee on infrastructural developments, having gone round the capital city of the old Eastern Region and the heartbeat of the Igbo nation, came to the conclusion that the PDP and Governor Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi have failed the people of the state, especially in the area of infrastructure, youth empowerment and job creation.

“On resumption on duty as the Enugu State governor in 2015, Governor Ugwuanyi appeared as a symbol of hope and a builder. The people of Enugu State rejoiced, but seven years later, Governor Ugwuanyi is leaving the coal city state more dilapidated and rotten. The coal city shuttle bus bought and inaugurated by former Governor (Sullivan) Chime during his administration is no longer in existence. Ndi Enugu will pay Governor Ugwuanyi back during the election by burying the PDP.”

Efforts to get the reaction of the state government were unsuccessful as the Special Adviser to the Governor on Information who also oversees the Ministry of Information, Mr Steve Oruruo, could not be reached as of the time of filing the report.

However, when the Senior Special Assistant to the Governor on Media, Mr Louis Amoke, was contacted on the phone, he requested the statement issued by MASSOB but did not pick up further calls when the statement was sent to him.
