Following an earlier conviction for stealing £80 from a lost wallet that was reported to police, Mohammad Ghalayini, a Metropolitan Police officer, was fired from the force.
After a police officer reported the missing money in October, Ghalayini was found guilty of theft and tampering with the course of law.
In October, he was sentenced to 22 months in prison. On Wednesday, a misconduct hearing determined that his acts had violated norms of honesty and integrity, and as a result, he was fired without cause.
He is not permitted to work for the police, local policing organisations (PCCs), the Independent Office for Police Conduct (IOPC), or His Majesty’s Inspectorate of Constabulary and Fire and Rescue Services as part of the sanctions against Ghalayini.
