Umar Sani Reveals The Reason Why Atiku Insisted He Would Contest In The 2023 Presidential Election

[ad_1]

There have been some moves by stakeholders in PDP to resolve the lingering crisis in the party before the commencement of Presidential campaign which is expected to start in September. Members of Wike and Atiku camp met to resolve the rift, but despite the meeting, Wike is still insisting that Senator Ayu gives up the party’s Chairmanship position for a Southerner in order to uphold the representative democracy practised in the party.

The PDP chieftain, Umar Sani seems to have a contrary opinion to Wike’s plight as he described it as an issue of personal interest. Speaking with Trust TV, Umar Sani said Wike thought the party’s ticket would be given to him and that while he was making plans ahead of the party’s primary election, Atiku Abubakar was also doing his own assignment. He said Wike is causing ‘uproar’ in Port Harcourt, but when they organised a NEC meeting, he was not present to table his grievances before the party.

Umar Sani said some people in the party never wanted the ticket to be given to Atiku Abubakar as they pushed for the zoning of the ticket to the south, but Atiku Abubakar insisted that he would contest. Speaking on why Atiku Abubakar stood his ground, he said out of the 16 years PDP ruled in Nigeria, the South ruled for 14 years while the North ruled for only 2 years.
