The interim administration committees in the state’s 27 local government areas were dissolved on Thursday by Hope Uzodimma, the governor of Imo State.
After a private meeting with the chairmen at the Government House in Owerri, the dissolution was revealed to journalists by the governor’s chief press officer, Mr. Oguike Nwachukwu.
They were commended by Uzodinma for the work they had done in their various local governments since being appointed a few months earlier.
He also informed the chairmen that the state government was prepared to hold local elections.
The statement read: “The governor will appoint sole administrators to oversee the councils pending the conduct of the elections.
“He also told the dissolved IMC Chairmen that his government would not hesitate to engage their services in other areas as APC members.”
