[ad_1]

Ahead of the 2023 presidential election, the former president of Nigeria, Goodluck Jonathan, on Saturday called on Nigerians to vote for the presidential candidate of any political party that believed in the unity of Nigeria.

Jonathan made this call on the lecture series to mark the 80th birthday of Chief Emmanuel Iwuanyanwu, which took place in Owerri, with the theme “Igbo Quest for Nigeria’s Unity.”

Iwuanyanwu is a guy of many colours and a diligent investor, and Jonathan claims that his success story will serve as a model for the nation’s leaders. Iwuanyanwu is a man of victory, and his songs portray the fact that he has persistently prioritised unity over narrow self-interest.

Before the election, politicians ought to stop emphasising our differences, he continued. Young people in particular should cast their ballots for candidates who support Nigeria’s unity. Let’s cooperate so that everyone feels like they belong.

Hope Uzodimma, the main speaker and governor of Imo state, said: “Ndigbo loves Nigeria and the evidence is everywhere. The Igbo have a deep, abiding passion for Nigeria. The Igbos noticed that Nigeria didn’t share their passion for the country, which was an issue. The Igbos rose up and embraced an unified Nigeria despite harsh policies and the bad consequences of the civil war.

The governor acknowledged that Igbos have shortcomings. Weak in negotiations, we are. Always, we think we can handle things on our own. Negotiations can help the Igbo win the presidency.

“Iwuayanwu was an imperialism victim. He has persisted in promoting communication for the benefit of Igbos in Nigeria. The economy, entertainment, and other sectors have all seen significant Igbo investment.

“Back then, thanks to the evolution of power, Igbos were doing quite well. The Igbos and the northern Christians, who have been reduced to second-class citizens, cannot be placated by Nigeria. We must restructure and go back to how things were in order to escape this situation. in order for our people to control their economy.

The failure of the Igbos to produce a president is not the fault of offers, according to Afenifere’s Secretary General Shola Oduseni. It is a constitutional problem. 95 local government areas exist in the South East as well. If we travel to Kano, we will find that there are more local governments there than in the entire South East.

We have decided to back the Igbos for the presidency in 2023, according to Birtrus Pogu, the Middle Belt forum representative. Because of marginalisation, we made a decision. According to vanguard.
