The former senator that represented the good people of Kaduna Central Senatorial Zone, Senator Shehu Sani, has dragged some Nigerians who were complaining that some politicians are receiving money abroad for their campaign, ahead of the next year’s presidential election.
According to a tweet he made on his verified twitter handle, the former lawmaker stated it clearly that some Nigerians are angry about using diaspora funds for elections, but the same people are not angry about using public funds for elections.
It should be recalled that a certain group petitioned the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, asking the electoral body to disqualify the Labour Party’s presidential candidate, Mr Peter Obi, for allegedly collecting $150 million from Nigerians living abroad, for his presidential campaign.
Based on what Senator Shehu Sani has just said here, I really think that it will be a good idea if the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, will also disqualify candidates who are campaigning with public funds.
