What Chelsea may have looked like with Boehly ‘slapstick’ formation

[ad_1]

Todd Boehly, owner of Chelsea, allegedly made a “bad first impression” when he suggested a “4-4-3” shape to Thomas Tuchel, the team’s departing manager.

The new owners of the west Londoners shockingly fired the Champions League-winning manager.

The American gave Tuchel his orders just a day after Chelsea’s Champions League campaign got underway with a 1-0 road loss to Dinamo Zagreb in his 100th game as Blues manager.

Several stories claimed that Tuchel and Boehly’s relationship had broken down, with the latter allegedly calling the German manager a “nightmare” to work with.

However, according to other accounts, the American also made a poor impression when he created a fantasy “4-4-3” system for Tuchel to use in the future.

According to reports from the Athletic, Boehly and co-owner Behdad Eghbali came up with this moderately humorous blunder, which has 11 outfielders.

It is said that during one of the initial recruitment sessions Boehly had with Tuchel, he made this somewhat humiliating error.

This error was just one of many “slapstick” blunders made during the first meetings between the two parties.

The football club denied this miscommunication ever occurred when questioned about it.

It’s still not clear if Tuchel and Boehly actually did make this awful error.

Graham Potter, the new Chelsea manager, will undoubtedly be hoping there isn’t any miscommunication or breakdown in communication.

The former Brighton and Hove Albion manager, who had a highly successful tenure with the Seagulls, was recently named Tuchel’s replacement. The Boehly consortium has tapped Potter as its first manager.

“Potter is one of the most exciting coaches in the game, starting his journey in Sweden before bringing his talents to the English game over the past four seasons,” an official statement from the west Londoners said.

“The 47-year-old is educated to degree level in disciplines beyond sport and has combined these experiences to forge a collaborative, forward-thinking approach while developing attacking and winning football.

“That has been in evidence during his time at Brighton & Hove Albion, where he achieved that club’s highest-ever league finish last season.

“Along the way, he earned praise for his winning brand of football on the south coast, while proving flexible in tactics and formations to be a step ahead of opponents.”
