Why Ten Hag’s Decision To Start Antony Against Arsenal Proves He Is A Technical Manager.

Manchester United welcomed Arsenal to the Old Trafford in their 6th match of the season. It was a block buster match for both sides as they came off wins in their previous matches.

The match ended 3-1 as Ten Hag clinched his fourth EPL win in a row as United’s manager. One of the talking points before and after the match has been about Antony who just joined the Red Devils from Ajax.

His contract was finalized less than a week ago and he started for Manchester United today. Some fans have been making comments about this decision, saying that although this is a good decision, he should do the same for Casemiro.

We would like to show the possible reason why Ten Hag’s Decision to start Antony in his first match and not start Casemiro makes him a Technical manager.

Casemiro joined Manchester United weeks ago and has not started a single match for the Red Devils, rather he has been subbed on during the second half a number of times.

This made many United Fans make comments that Casemiro is better than McTominay & should be placed in the starting XI. This got to a higher extent when Antony was placed in the starting eleven.

The reason behind this is that although their records and statistics place Casemiro higher than McTominay, Casemiro needs to understand the way of play in the English Premier League and most especially the style of play of his new manager (Erik Ten Hag).

We sometimes see players who change clubs and managers, switch style of play and end up as flops. It will take time for Casemiro to adapt.

One can argue that the same rule should have been applied to Antony, but some forget that their cases are not the same. Although he still needs to adapt to the style of football in the EPL, he has a lot of experience with Erik Ten Hag due to their time in Ajax.

He was a huge part of Ten Hag’s team in Ajax which won the league before Ten Hag moved to Manchester United. This means that Ten Hag trusts him more because he is completely aware of his capabilities as a player.

We will definitely not neglect the fact that Casemiro needs more pitch time in order to fully synchronize with the style of play, as such Ten Hag should add him more often because he will be a great help to United’s midfield.
