The committee members also stated that East Jerusalem serves as the Palestinian state’s capital. They opposed any effort to impair Palestinian authority over the occupied city as well as any unilateral actions that would have an impact on its legal standing.
They underlined that it is crucial to adhere to the notion of a “fair and comprehensive peace” founded on the cessation of Israeli occupation.
The committee also reaffirmed the necessity of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan serving as the custodian of the holy places of the Arab, Islamic, and Christian religions in Jerusalem in order to protect them, maintain their identity, and maintain the current legal and historical framework.
