Wike: Aggrieved PDP members must be consoled, carried along – Shehu Sani

The former MP who represented Kaduna Central in the 8th National Assembly, Senator Shehu Sani, has urged the leadership of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) to ensure that all aggrieved members are supported in the struggle to seize power in 2023.

The Daily Post reports that Rivers State Governor Nyesom Wike and his cronies had a falling out with PDP presidential candidate Atiku Abubakar and party national leader Senator Iyorchia Ayu following the results of the party primary.

Efforts by party lobby groups to crush the fight had failed, as Wike and his men had insisted that Senator Ayu resign.

Governor Wike had threatened to work against the party in the 2023 presidential election unless the party leader resigned. But the PDP’s National Executive Committee (NEC) on Thursday voted for Ayu’s confidence, saying he would not step down anytime soon. However, Shehu Sani said in a post on her social media on Friday that the injured party members should be comforted and brought forward but should not work against the party.

You wrote: “Atiku Abubakar is the presidential candidate of the PDP. The party president is the driver of the vehicle and should be the one the flag bearer feels comfortable with.”

If the elections are won or lost, Atiku will carry the trophy or carry the cross of failure. Injured group members need to be comforted and carried forward, but to oppose your party means to voluntarily go to the gallows.
