In an interview with Arise TV, a Political analyst Mr. Kayode Otitoju has explained that the influence of Southern Nigeria has been undermined ahead of the 2023 election. He emphasised the fact that the Southern part of Nigerians has a larger number of Christians and that this sect of people plays a huge part in deciding whether a candidate would win an election.
He clarified that the Ruling Party, All Progressive Congress has made a decision that satisfies the Northern Nigeria while overlooking the interest of the Southerners, who are majorly Christians.
He said, ”To APC they think the North West is already secured for them because the President is from that region and people like the governor of Kebbi, Kaduna and the diehards supporters will secure that for them.
But you can’t say you will win an election without Southern support, the South is predominantly Christians. If all the Christians say we are not voting for you, you can’t win. If there’s a law in the future that makes it obligatory for parties to balance the religion. It will save us from the unnecessary antagonistic competition.”
