Manchester United defeated Arsenal in their last EPL game to end the Gunners unbeaten start to the season. Not only did United and Erik ten Hag beat unarguably the best team in the League until that point, they made it 4 wins in their last 4 games.
Manchester United now look different form the poor team that started this season losing at home to Brighton before getting thrashed by Brentford.
What changed, here are 3 reasons why United are now playing better and winning games:
1. Change of Tactics
Manager, Erik Ten Hag started the season trying to play his possession based football system that worked for him at Ajax. It backfired after the two losses to Brighton and Brentford. Erik ten Hag changed his tactics and went to counter attacking based football and Man United have been better and more effective ever since.
2. Players Selection Changes
Erik Ten Hag did not only make changes to his tactics, he did same for the Players he selected in his lineup. Cristiano Ronaldo, club Captain, Harry Maguire, Luke Shaw and Fred all got dropped from the starting eleven and the effect it has had on the team has been positive.
3. Less Expectation
After two losses in their two opening games, Man United were no longer taken seriously especially when it concerned the EPL title race or even top 4 this season. The ease in pressure has helped Man United focus more on winning one game at time, climb up the table without much expectation on them. With this less pressure and expectation, Man United and Erik Ten Hag are quietly doing great things.
