As the 2023 elections approach, DSS issues a warning against making inflammatory remarks.

Nigerians have been warned about hate speech, violence, and other divisive actions by the Department of State Services (DSS).

This was said by the DSS spokesman, Peter Afunanya, on Wednesday in Abuja at a media briefing.

He asserted that the upcoming general elections in 2023 were making the nation more nervous and that Nigerians should refrain from taking any actions or saying anything that would incite unrest.

“Nigerians, elections are approaching once more. Let’s avoid violence and follow the laws of the game,” he urged. Say no to violence; avoid acting like a thug.

“Let’s rise and defeat violence, crime and sabotage against the peace of our nation. Nigeria is the only country we have, we must do everything to keep it united.

“We’re engaging stakeholders to help shun violence as election approaches. We’re engaging the media because you’re the gatekeepers and whatever you put out there is what the public consumes.

“Peace is very critical for the well-being of our nation, therefore let’s shun violence and ethnicity, let’s preach religious tolerance in the message we pass out,” the DSS spokesman appealed.
