On Tuesday, gunmen attacked the President Muhammadu Buhari security detail in Katsina State.
Two people were hurt in the attack, according to Garba Shehu, the President’s Senior Special Assistant on Media and Publicity, who verified the incident in a statement in Abuja.
Later in the week, President Buhari is anticipated to attend the Eid-el-Kabir celebration in Katsina.
Shehu claimed that the security crew was attacked while en route to Daura to be ready for the president’s visit.
He claimed that the security personnel managed to repel the assault.
“The attackers opened fire on the convoy from ambush positions but were repelled by the military, police and DSS personnel accompanying the convoy.
“Two persons in the convoy are receiving treatment for the minor injuries they suffered. All the other personnel, staff and vehicles made it safely to Daura.”
