Comparing Lewandowski and Benzema as the Chase for the Golden Boot award in La Liga continues

The Spanish La Liga 2022/2023 has begun in earnest. Clubs have started to make efforts to get their campaign up and running in order to be considered title contenders & possibly win the league in the end.

As clubs are making collective effort, players are also trying on their individual capacities to win awards which are presented to players based on their individual achievements.

In every league, there is the Golden Boot award which is given to the player who scores the most number of goals during each season.

In this article, we would like to compare two La Liga players with the aim to show why one of these players might get overtaken by the other on the goal scorers list.

The two players in question are Robert Lewandowski and Karim Benzema. Benzema has been a player in the La Liga for a long time. He currently plays for Real Madrid & has been a huge part of their success in the past.

Last season, he scored a total of 27 goals for Real Madrid in the La Liga. This made him the highest goal scorer as he had a margin of 9 goals over the second place player.

Robert Lewandowski just joined the Spanish La Liga this Summer when he moved from Bayern Munich to FC Barcelona.

Last season, he scored a total of 35 goals for Bayern Munich in the Bundesliga. He had an 11 goal margin over the second place player.

He has taken La Liga by storm as he is currently the top goal scorer. He has 5 goals in 4 matches for FC Barcelona & does not seem to be stopping anytime soon.

On the other hand, Karim Benzema has just 3 goals so far in the league and needs 2 to meet up with Lewandowski before thinking of outscoring him.

The season is still fresh and a lot will still happen before it’s end. Karim Benzema will have to be in his very best if he is to outscore Lewandowski who scored 8 goals more than he (Benzema) did last season in their respective domestic league.
